Durham is fortunate to have several initiatives that involve faith-based organizations. Below are initiatives sponsored
through the Durham County Health Department:
P.E.A.C.E. Project
This project works with 12 African American churches in Durham to reduce chronic illness through physical fitness and
nutrition iniatives. Churches receive direct attention from staff members and resources to share with members
of their congregation.
Durham County Health Ministry Network
The Network meets quarterly in Durham with any faith-based organization that wants to address congregational health issues.
